Get Ready for iPhone. It’s Here!

Revolutionary interface.

I’m not one of the millions of eager beavers who camped out in mall parking lots awaiting the release of the iPhone in stores near you yesterday.  I am, however, a watchful supporter of what Steve Jobs decides to bring out next.  The iPhone is one of the first of many devices we’ll see giving new meaning to "touch screen."

While at the AEP conference in Washington, D.C. a few weeks ago, a representative from Apple wow’d us with the next generation of tools using "surface technology."

Surface Technology

No joysticks, keyboards, or mice needed with the new "surface technology" of which the new iPhone has merely demonstrated to a limited extent.  Hands only. Simulating an orchestra conductor, you can direct digital objects projected onto surfaces such as coffee tables or invisible screens on the walls, reminiscent of the Mission Impossible control centers that Tom Cruise used.  With a swoop of your hand you could move, zoom, and resize digital photos on a coffee table.  Science fiction and reality meet when the digital object projected on the coffee table are able to be swooshed onto hardware like cameras, cell phones, or computers sitting on the coffee table with a mere motion of your hands.

Looking forward to the next generation of tools.
